Through our coordinated action plan 2026, ACCA DE LORP SENTARAILLE mobilizes volunteer technicians, certified hunt masters, and local landowners into four core field operational modules. These programs deliver direct benefits to rural farmers, resident wildlife, and the broader Ariège community by maintaining balanced ecosystems and safeguarding public safety.
Program 1: Wildlife Censuses & Biometric Population Monitoring
Effective wildlife stewardship requires accurate, empirical population data rather than conjecture. Our volunteer teams execute comprehensive bi-monthly nocturnal thermal tracking, footprint grid transects, and trail camera monitoring across all five communal forest sectors in Lorp-Sentaraille.
These rigorous field surveys evaluate age distributions, male-to-female ratios, and breeding success among native roe deer and wild boar. Data collected is transmitted directly to the Ariège Hunting Federation and the French Biodiversity Agency (OFB) to calibrate seasonal harvest quotas. By keeping animal populations in balance with the carrying capacity of communal woods, we prevent mass starvation, reduce vehicle collisions along departmental highways (RD 117), and eliminate conditions that breed epizootic illnesses.

When fencing alone cannot mitigate severe damage, authorized batteau operations are mounted under strict prefectural safety decrees to humanely herd wild boars back into deep forest reserves.

Dense undergrowth, fallen timber from winter storms, and overgrown brambles can block communal rights of way, creating severe wildfire hazards and impeding emergency vehicles. Prior to any operation, bright fluorescent warning signage is physically posted at every road, trail, and path entering the sector.
